ANNUAL MEETING Report

Prepared by Valerie Aas

Riverton Community Housing’s Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, September 16 at 7 PM in the Chateau building’s 18th floor large lounge. The meeting had 12 members in attendance.

Prior to the meeting, most "tasks" were decided based on members’ roles on the board. They follow:

Everyone listed above presented his/her reports, commenting and answering questions throughout the meeting, which made it successful. Had this list not been discussed ahead of time, some things may have been neglected, as no one would have felt responsible for facilitating specific sections of the meeting.

Recommendations:

Prior to the meeting, it would be preferable to have more organization regarding how the meeting will be run. This would ensure concise, complete information and would detail the expectations from each member at the meeting. It would also convey a sense of community at Riverton and an opportunity for those outside the organization to see the positive working dynamics of the group.

Consistent letterhead/font/handouts would also be preferred. When individuals distribute various handouts that are very different from each other, it conveys a different message that if everything were to be done on similar letterhead/fonts/handout styles, etc.

A stronger "sell" on the organization’s mission and vision is needed. This might include different speakers or visual aids to interest those that are new to the organization, its history and future.

People seemed to enjoy the food. Riverton’s new napkins should be used next year.
